Why walk
The Memory Walk is a mobilization effort to accompany a parent, a relative or a friend and to show solidarity for those affected by Alzheimer's disease and for their families.

Come walk with us on May 25, 2008 and let us all break the silence and the isolation, in order for individuals affected by Alzheimer's disease, as well as other related illnesses, to be recognized as real people and to be able to live their life until the very end. This provincial fundraising effort will ensure that the services provided become more accessible, more flexible and more numerous.

The Québec Alzheimer movement is made up of 21 societies spread out across the province of Québec. These societies are registered as community organizations and grouped into one federation so that they are recognized at the provincial level.

Mission of your Alzheimer Society

Your Alzheimer Society helps people affected by Alzheimer's disease as well as their families by offering programs and providing services that are customized according to individual needs (such as support, relief care, home-care, day centre and lodging). Its mission is also to inform the population and to raise awareness.

People need you

  • More than 105,600 Quebecers aged 65 or older are affected by Alzheimer's or a related disease.
  • 52% of Quebecers know someone who is affected by the disease.
  • Despite advances in knowledge and the discovery of specific drugs, the number of people affected by the disease will increase by 57% within 15 years.
  • In Québec, home-care is mainly provided by loved ones. 36% of caregivers in the community are aged 70 or older.
Refer to the Links section to find out more about your Alzheimer Society, on the Québec Alzheimer movement or on the disease itself.
