Forget me not

Estrie

Jacques Demers, Honorary President
We must walk for funds!

Parents, friends or neighbours, do you know someone who suffers from Alzheimer's disease? If so, you are not alone: more than 50% of the Quebec population is in daily contact with this disease.

After nearly five decades of research, the exact causes of Alzheimer's disease have not yet been identified. Nevertheless, science has slowed down the progression of the disease and new avenues are constantly being investigated. We certainly should not be giving up now!

So, we are calling upon your social implication to collect funds in order to help the loved ones, caregivers or volunteers of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease or a related disease. The Alzheimer Society of Estrie is counting on your generosity and your cooperation to make this 2nd edition of the Memory Walk a great success.

We invite you all to take part (individually, as a family or as a group) in this fundraising event, which will take place at the Jacques-Cartier Park in Sherbrooke on Sunday May 25, 2008, and for which the organizing committee is promising a fun-filled day.

No one is immune to this disease… It could be you, me or someone you know who, tomorrow, may have to fight the consequences of a disease that involves our mental abilities. Let us think of those who live daily with a loved one suffering from Alzheimer's. Those individuals need support and respite. They also need training to better understand the disease and its effects in order to provide the appropriate care to those they love.

Fulfilling those needs, that is, among other things, the role of the Alzheimer Society of Estrie. You must help this organization. You must help it help other people.

As honorary president of this remarkable event, I'm counting on you to make it a huge success.

Jacques Demers
Honorary President
